Complete Giclee services from Image capture to print
Our company offers a large list of capabilities to service your
Giclee or imaging needs. We offer our clients a powerful resource with a recipe for success.
Listed below is a description of services we offer our clients.
Scanning/Image capture
Betterlight Scanning back:
We perform direct digital image capture using our Betterlight 144 mega pixel
scanning back attached to our large format 4x5 camera. As opposed to flatbed
scanners, such as the Cruse, nothing touches your art work when performing the
scan and also provides us to apply Asymmetric
lighting to bring out the textures which are found in your works done in
oils, pallet knife, mixed media, etc.
Lighting: The lighting
we use are Northlight's special full spectrum HID lights. These
provide high lumen output to allow for full color captures with low UV and cool
temperatures to protect your artwork. Cross polarized
lighting is possible using these lights which will eliminate the glare and highlights from highly
reflective surfaces.
Transparency scanning: We
can scan your 35mm, medium or large format transparencies for use in producing
your Giclee prints. Film
is fluid-mounted and scanned to provide improved quality and the best possible
capture. We require that a color reference be provided to allow for
correct color correction.
Giclee Printing
Large format printing: We use
Epson's line of K3 printers which have 8-9 colors of pigmented ink to allow better
colorfastness and overall archival properties. We can print up to 44 inch
widths and pretty much unlimited lengths (maximum determined by media length.)
Wide selection of media: We can
print on a variety of canvas, fine art and watercolor papers.
Photo printing: We offer
photo printing up to 17 inch widths for glossy or semi-gloss photography.
Epson's 3 black ink technology yields stunning B&W prints.
Finishing
UV Laminate:
Our canvas pricing includes the application of a UV liquid
laminate that protects the canvas print from ultraviolet light, scratching and
provides a waterproof layer for further canvas protection. The laminate
will not crack when stretched or yellow over time. This laminate can also
be applied to heavier watercolor and fine art papers at a nominal cost. (See
pricing page for more info)
Mounting: We can mount your fine
art/photo paper prints on 3/16 inch standard, acid free (pH balanced), gatorfoam
board. These are very rigid foam boards which still provides archival
properties. We do not mount canvas on Gator board.
Stretching: We can provide
stretching for your canvas prints on quality stretcher bars. Stretching
will be performed on either standard 11/16 inch bars, suitable for framing or
1.5 or 1.75 thick Gallery/Museum bars. Pre-stretching your prints will add
additional shipping costs due to overall shipping size and weight.
Stretching will also add 10-14 business days to your order. Depending on
your situation, we can ship your prints un-stretched in tubes, to minimize your
shipping cost and storage requirements. Please contact us if you would
like to discuss. Pricing is base on largest side of 36 inches or less.
Please contact us for pricing for sizes larger than 36 inches.
Accurate color matching.
Our workflow process, along with our Betterlight image
capture, allows us to very accurately match the colors in your original to the
final print.
Using your own digital image file, photographs included.
Photograph/image: If you have your own digital image file, we can
use it to create your final Giclee. It needs to have a resolution of
between 240-360 dpi and should match the overall output size that you will be
requesting for printing.
For example if you want a 17 x 22 inch print,
your image should be in the range of 5000 x 6600 pixels. We can accept most
image types but prefer TIFF, PSD or other loss less file types. If your
original image file is smaller than your requested print size, please do not
perform the interpolation before sending to us. We have software that will
perform the re-size interpolation with no image degradation/pixelation providing
the resizing is within 800% of the original. While we do accept images
that are smaller than the final output size, the client needs to be aware than
the print will be of a lesser quality than what we can produce using our in
house image captures.
No additional color correction will be
performed on the image(s). Color profiling to printer and paper will be
matched based on embedded color profile. (i.e. They will be printed as is.) If
you are assigning a color profile with the image please use Adobe RGB (1998).
Do not use sRGB as it has a smaller color gamut.
Image upload:
If you have a broadband connection we provide you the capability to
upload large
image files via our secure server. If not we can accept images on CD
or media sticks via mail.
On demand printing
No Minimums: If you only need 1
or 2 prints to start, you do not need to place a minimum order. Order only
what you need now. You can always order more
prints when you need them.
Digital Image editing.
Gallery wraps: If you are
planning on gallery wrap mounting for your Giclee, we will perform the editing
for the mirror image sides or color wrap at no charge, provided no
additional editing is required. Printing charges will be higher due the
increase in the printable image size.
General editing: We can
perform various editing on your images, such as image cleanup, conversion from
color to Sepia, Image edges, color enhancements, cropping, sizing, etc..
General image editing is billed on an hourly basis in 15 min increments.
Deckled edging on fine art
papers.
Archiving.
No Charge archiving:
We will archive your final corrected image in our
media archive at no additional charge. This allows us to just pull your
finished image when you request additional prints and assures that subsequent
prints are exactly the same as the first ones. We will delete the image or
images if requested after printing.
CD/DVD: We can provide you
with a CD or DVD of your images for a nominal charge. Even though a CD is
provided to you, we will continue to store your images in our media server
unless requested otherwise.
Product Photography
We photograph products and 3-D art works for
use in magazines, web or other advertising media. If you need very high
quality imaging we would use our Betterlight scanning system to perform the
photography. For most instances our Digital SLR cameras would be
sufficient. This work is charged by the hour rather than per image.
